This is a non-public site containing cine films, photos and Snapshots from an early family cine camera. It was probably a Miller wind-up model, using “Standard” 8mm film. The device was hand held, had no auto focus and usually only three manual exposure settings. The film had to be loaded into the camera, preferably in the dark, shot on a day that was not too sunny or overcast. It was then unloaded back into a canister and posted to Kodak in Hemel Hempstead. Upon return it then needed to be viewed thorough a hot and heavy projector. Hopefully, the film was the correct way up and didn’t catch fire if it jammed! They were a lot of fun.
As one would expect the quality of production is not of today’s standard, with little or no second chance for editing enhancements! Nevertheless, they provide many memories of weddings, family barbecues and parties along with a number of overseas holiday adventures. Later films (post 1974) were mainly shot in “Super 8” and hence they are of a superior quality. The films now only exist in electronic format as .avis or .mp4s (see Catalogue)
They are particularly poignant seeing family members who are no longer with us.
